Mork Monolitt Review
Mork
Monolitt
Peaceville Records
2026
Mork is one of those bands that’s quietly built a reputation for consistency. There are plenty of Black Metal acts that flare up for a record or two and then disappear back into the void, but these guys just keep delivering. With “Monolitt,” they’re very much in that same lane again.
What hits first is the production. It’s raw and intense, but not in a way that feels undercooked or gimmicky. It’s got that live-wire edge where everything sounds like it’s right on the verge of falling apart, but it never does.
The vocals really stand out here too. There’s a real bite to them, and they sit in the mix in a way that gives the songs a constant sense of tension. Nothing overdone, just pure venom cutting through the riffs. And the riffs themselves stick. There’s a lot going on in terms of atmosphere and aggression, but it never turns into a blur, you actually remember these songs after they’re done, which isn’t always a given in this style.
“Monolitt” doesn’t feel like a band trying to reinvent anything or chase whatever’s happening in the scene right now. It just feels like Mork doing what they do, without overthinking it, and trusting the songwriting to carry the weight.
If you’re into Black Metal that’s raw, riff-driven, and still has some atmosphere left in the tank, this one’s worth checking out.
Standouts – “Torden”, “Martyr” and “Jutul”.
