Kerry King, of Slayer celebrity, delivers a remastering of his demos with From Hell I Rise. Gracing his fans with his own vocals and icon sound.

 

While listening to the album, I had the sudden revelation that most lyrics to speed metal are just slam poetry. Every line rhymes, it’s easy to follow, and it’s generally given with a lot of screaming. You may see that as a dig into the genre, but I think it shifts my perspective on it.

 

The album is very much classic speed metal. Almost a ‘by the number’ procession of music. Killer beats, the iconic riffs, and a barrage of fry vocals. It’s genuinely solid within its genre. Honestly, it’s interesting to see from this album and knowing Slayer just how much influence Kerry carries in that band.
