Currently hailing from Boston, Boarzoy are delivering their latest installment The Great Fires. It hit streaming in June but recently showed up in my inbox. 

Obviously, this is my first listen of them because had it not been, you would have already heard me screaming about them. This album…shew, it is next level. The Great Fires is sludgey, heartfelt, and incredibly technical. It’s also a fresh perspective on the genre.

It has this ebb and flow within the album to keep you wanting to listen. It calls out injustices and does so in a way that you find yourself screaming with them. And the musicality? I know we all make jokes about 4/4 but the time signature changes that happen within the songs along with this prog/grunge/sludge mix up makes the music incredibly powerful.
