Lycanthro punk is real. You feel it in your chest as your heart races while listening to Wolfbrigade's latest release, HOWL FROM UNDERGROUND. The raw, angsty and blackened intensity that bleeds through every second of this album puts a big, stupid smile on my face. Caught in a padded cell with the likes of Motorhead, Toxic Holocaust, Midnight and even Swedish melodeath masters Dismember and Entombed, you are in for a ride, so buckle up.


Wolfbrigade are equal parts heavy intensity and neck breaking speed that will undoubtedly satiate every fiber of your being if you love any aspect of punk or heavy metal. One of the aspects of the album I enjoy most is just how seamlessly the band threads their influences and own style into a tapestry of darkness that cannot be denied. One of my favorite tracks, "Born to Rot", sounds like a heavier, grittier version of something Motorhead would have released and there are even times when vocalist Micke Dahl comes across as an alternate universe Lemmy. "Cold War Bootlicker" interestingly enough feels cold, but is heavy, melodic and is where you can hear some of the buzzsaw guitar tone of the aforementioned melodic death metal legends.


At 12 tracks and a runtime of 31 minutes, HOWL FROM UNDERGROUND is incredibly focused and concise. I'd be hard pressed to find

any flaws or downfalls with this release. I love punk and I love metal and everything in between. And if you fall anywhere within that

spectrum, Wolfbrigade should be the next band you check out.
