Hailing from the French post hardcore scene, Untitled With Drums, are delivering their latest album. Made Flesh is dropping in August and promises to give you an emotional rollercoaster.

This was my first time listening to the band. Their “for fans of” section did immediately get me interested as they listed such bands as Deftones. While I can see the Deftones inspiration, the album reminded me, tonally, of Chevelle. Though, that’s not completely fair either because Untitled With Drums absolutely has their own sound. Perhaps it’s that the music seems to hold a sadness to it, both lyrically and musically. It’s almost like it sits in the melancholy. I personally love it when music sits in Melancholy. Yes, the genre is often filled with angst and heavy emotions, but there’s such an appeal to it. Because it’s relatable. It’s miraculous when you suddenly don’t feel alone. When someone has written the words you’ve left but couldn’t get out.

Space and Been So High stand out for me as they sound so different from everything else on the album. This isn’t to say that they don’t flow with the album, they absolutely do. It could be the quieter starts to them that make them stand out. But they’re also both lyrically beautiful. The album does have this wave like flow to it. Like standing on the cusp of an ocean and letting the waves break over your legs.
