Human Within is a powerful new force emerging from Australia's metal scene. Delivering their debut album, Behind The Mask. This is a passion project between two friends. A metalcore offering to the masses.

 

Hailing from down under, it’s no surprise I haven’t heard them before. So, I slapped on my headphones and gave it a go. Firstly, the music is there. It’s strong and has a groove to get lost in. Here’s where I get silly. I like the vocals, but I couldn’t figure out what to call them. Most of the time you can relate a vocal style to another or similar band. I drew a complete blank. So, I’m dubbing this “Wizard Vocals”. They are this…almost falsetto, possibly head voice type vocals that absolutely work with the music, but they’re so unique that they can also stand out from the music.

 

For me, the album feels like a plea. One to make the listener feel and see them. Beyond the facade of the mask we all wear day to day. It’s a shorter EP, but definitely very impactful.
