Green Carnation has sent out to give us an Epic of old via A Dark Poem Parts I, II, & III.

So, let’s take a peak at the journey thus far and look forward to how the poem ends.

The first album, A Dark Poem Pt I: The Shores of Melancholia, delivers a heavy vision. A sonic wave of melancholy and despair. Literally the first song is one of loss before Silence.

The second album, A Dark Poem, Part II: Sanguis, delivers an array of emotions, with one of my favorites invoking loneliness. It’s raw, heavy, thick with emotions. It did catch me dancing, which was a surprise, but it is a beautiful album.

Now, they finalize the Epic with A Dark Poem, Pt III: The Messiah Complex

This, for me, is a great way to wrap up the story. I will advise though it feels like their most religious work amongst the triad of albums. It is also the shortest, but that’s not a bad thing. It still carries the same or similar vibe as the previous. Heavy with emotions, great lyricism, and impressive musicality.

A standout for me is the Orchestral Suite. It gave heavy Star Wars/Tim Burton vibes. Creepy, intriguing and thought-provoking. It’s heavily cinematic. It is also the last and longest track on this album. This, to me, is the perfect ending. It allows you to reflect on the story told, to almost envision the story within your minds eye. It is absolutely beautiful.

I would suggest listening from Part I to Part III. You won’t be disappointed.
