Embracing what I see as Pagan roots, Fyrdsman brings us their album The Free Man. A melodic death metal album that seems to focus on history and folklore.
The first track we’re greeted with is The Green Man. Gotta say, this is probably my favorite on the album. The music is an impressive feat for a one-man band. The lyrics are weaving a story.
The only downside I would give is the harsh vocals seem strained. It is hard to hear the lyrics through them, but after a couple of passes I was able to catch them. The clean vocals were a very pleasant surprise.
In the end the album is a balance. A one man’s showing of emotion and penmanship. A brilliant work of art.
