A German quartet of musicians are delivering an instrumental take into the black metal genre. Removing words but invoking plenty of emotions. At first blush, it may seem like a shorter album, given its only 6 songs, however it is anything but.

Innern is a dark trail of beauty, akin to walking through a phthalo green forest at the edge of a storm. A dark lullaby to sing yourself to sleep. Personally, it was something easy to get lost in and build a story. I literally had to open my computer and start writing, I was so compelled by the music. I love when music can move me in such a way. I can’t help but to think that this would be a fantastic background for a dark romance novel, an indie horror film or something that makes you stop in your tracks and just…. feel.

Maybe I’m just sentimental, but Innern almost brought me to tears. When was the last time a black metal album brought you to that point? As someone who is so heavily inspired by lyrics and their meanings, this album caught me by surprise. In the absolute best possible way too. To sit here with raw emotions and have them literally played out is very very special to me. I don’t think I can pick a standout track. Not when they’re all individually epic in their own way.

I want to lament on and on about it, but I also want you to listen to it and feel what I’m feeling too. So, follow them, listen to them. Get lost in emotions too.
