Burial Clouds

Burn Holy

Self-Released

2026

Portland post-doom metal collective BURIAL CLOUDS will release their stunning new full-length, Burn Holy, on May 22nd.

This was my first introduction to Burial Clouds and it’s safe to say, I’m in love. There’s a beautiful duality to the vocals, a feminine rage, this slow sludgy music pace. It’s a delight, honestly.

Burn Holy feels like this slow burn progression. A technically challenging work of art that almost begs and pleads with the listener to continue on this journey with them. It’s haunting and gritty.

The juxtaposition of vocals is my favorite part. These deep deep gutturals with sing songy bits, or when Marina Lavelle is just…screaming. This high frequency fry scream that feels like a plea for help or anger.

Either way, this is an impressive performance.
