Hailing from parts unknown, Blood White are delivering their latest album From Hell. It’s a fun ride in the hand basket we all jump into while descending into the depths.

So, I’ll warn, this will likely be a bit of a cheeky review. Maybe because I’m in a silly goofy mood, but please as you read this, take no offense.

Okay…now that I’ve warned you, let’s get into it. I suppose I was anticipating black metal from a band with White in the name, but it’s more metalcore or closer still to metal pop. It’s catchy, you can bob your head to it, you may even catch yourself dancing to it. The music itself is fun. Lyrically, I felt as if I was listening to poetry. It’s definitely written in a Ballad format where the ending has rhymes. This isn’t a detriment, more of an observation.

Now this is the cheekiest bit of it. Dr. Zero, the lead singer, has amazing control of his voice but I worry so badly that he’s going to blow his vocal cords out. You may go ‘but Rook, why do you think that?’ And honestly, I’m so glad you asked. He carries the first part of vocal fry into all of technique. It’s akin the the “ahhhh” sound from The Grudge. Now, this is how a lot of people learn to access their vocal fry and transition it into screaming. Just, singer to singer, I worry.

All that to say, it’s a bop. I definitely recommend listening to it!
