The Ghost Of L.A. & L.A. Suspicion 2 CD Value Pack
Perris Records
2026
We're back with another installment of Perris Records' 2 CD Value Pack series. This time around we're looking at AOR, the project headed up by the brilliant guitarist Frédéric Slama alongside multi-instrumentalist Tommy Denander and a revolving cast of talented musicians. I've never been crazy about the band's name; it's a nightmare to search since AOR is an entire genre unto itself. Still, that hasn't stopped Slama and company from putting together an impressive catalog over the years.
“The Ghost Of L.A.” is one of the band's brightest moments, in my opinion. The songwriting has a little more bite, and the whole album rocks harder than the AOR label might have you expecting. Slama's guitar work is outstanding, while both Steph Honde (Hollywood Monsters) and Paul Sabu (Only Child) deliver stellar vocal performances that give their songs plenty of personality.
“L.A. Suspicion” is every bit as worthwhile. Steph Honde once again steals the show with his bluesy vocal style, which fits this brand of Melodic Hard Rock like a glove. Slama and Tommy Denander had some serious chemistry during this period, and it shows from start to finish.
If you're into Melodic Rock in the vein of Journey, Bad English, or Survivor and somehow missed these albums the first time around, this 2 CD set is the perfect excuse to fix that. Besides, it's summertime, and this kind of feel-good Rock belongs blasting through the speakers with the windows down.
