Zömeterium is a term that refers to an ancient Christian tomb, a necropolis, or even a catacomb – it evokes the “place of rest” or “place of sleep” of the deceased – and it is also the title of the third album by Schatten Muse.

This is my first time listening and exploring the works of Schatten Muse. This German dark synthwave project tosses on dark romanticism using a lot of spoken word poetry to portray their message. Honestly, this album feels nostalgic. Like I’m listening to older Goth music. It’s perfect for swaying to music in a dimly lit club, smelling of cloves and absinthe.

If you were a young goth kid in the states, you likely listened to everything from Metropolis Records. This band would 100% fit on that label. The music gives the same vibes as Switchblade Symphony, London after Midnight or even Wumpscut. The spoken word poetry definitely sets them apart in this particular style.

I’d say give them a go if you’re into the dark synthwave scene!
