HKSPK is an independent Black/Death Metal trio from Brandenburg, Germany. Our second album, “Heimkehr”, will be released on September 11, 2026.

 

I sorta feel a bit special because they reached out after reading some of my other work. So, I was very honored and excited to give this a listen!! I did specifically want to wait til closer to the launch date because if it’s worth listening to, I don’t want y’all to wait!! So, I slapped on my headphones and gave them a listen.

 

This is a black metal album with shiny bits of melody but a lot of melancholy. If you lift the veil and look beyond, it’s honestly a very beautiful album. It definitely ebbs and flows smoothly, which is to be expected of most black metal albums. The sixth track is an absolute standout for me. Titled Rot In Despair, the song is almost chillingly sad. Themes of isolation drip and ooze from all facets of the composition. Be it instrumentally or vocally.

 

The album as a whole deals with many emotions. Things many are afraid to face. Yet, HKSPK steps up and delivers those emotions for us.
