Hailing from Colorado and blending genres, Dreadnought are delivering their latest LP, Wars of Spirit//Wards of Light. While I may look short in numbers, only being 6 tracks, each track is lengthy. This isn’t a detriment, it’s the opposite. You get pulled into the music.

 

The music feels like experimental melodic death metal with a dash of industrial/goth. There’s a heaviness to it, that gives it the death metal edge, but the synths and melodies push it towards goth rock. Not to mention the vocals of both Kelly & Ryan. They are this wonderful mix of ethereal and raw. With the lyrics that are these haunting moments of poetry, the combination is perfection.

 

There’s something about this mishmash of genres that seems absolutely perfect for them. It’s like casting spells over airwaves. I can only imagine that their live events are those of raw magick.
